Jonelle Pena - School Director/Personalized Learning Teacher

It is an honor to work with this fantastic team, synchronizing together as the CORE school network. Every member of our staff, all of the parents who have made this vast commitment to teaching and learning with their children, each student who has made the plunge into an education that is both vital and relevant, all of these team members make CORE an exciting environment to live in and work in every day. I really love books! Since 2002, I have been working in the CORE library; and I hope every student gains the joy of reading with our broad selection of books. In addition to running the lending library, I assist teachers in providing the most effective curriculum and textbook choices for each personalized student learning program.

I recently started my first year teaching at CORE and I have thoroughly enjoyed the school thus far. Having smaller classes and individualized instruction helps to ensure student confidence as well as success. There are many things I love about CORE. CORE allows teachers to meet the individual needs of students in order to give them the best education possible. We use community resources to educate our students here, which is prudent, cost effective, and keeps school relevant and exciting to students. My values are reflected at CORE. This is my eighth year at CORE, teaching at a school that operates in harmony with my philosophy. Most of all, I enjoy seeing students succeed with us who were not succeeding in other school settings. We really can make a difference in student's lives.

I first started working at CORE as a vendor, then as a math teacher.
