K-1 Spanish Fun

  • 40 Yr EU Fee

  • "Fun" is the operative word for this beginning Spanish class. Students will interact with each other as they learn the days of the week, colors, animals, general greetings, and more in Spanish. The children will hear familiar picture-book stories read in Spanish, learn songs, play games, make crafts, and the list goes on…

K-1 Seasonal Fun

2-3 Enrichment Across Curriculum

  • Various rotating units on Literature, Science, Math and Art. Hands-0n creative experiences stressed.

2-3 Math Enrichment

  • A hands-on math class that follows California state standards. This class uses games, manipulatives and many other interactive methods for teaching math to young students. It helps set a solid foundation for upper-level math classes. There is a literature component to this class for cross-curricular thematic studies.

3-5 Math on the Menu

  • Weekly targeted math instruction for students in grades 3-5.

2-5 Reading Intervention

  • 40 Yr EU Fee
    Teacher: Vicki Gronseth
  • For students who need some help opening the exciting world of reading. Building improvements in reading, as well as help strengthen spelling and writing skills. A "station" structured class where instruction is individualized to the learner's style, interest and need. Teacher recommendation necessary to enroll in this course.

4-5 Literature and Writing

  • We will be reading a combination of various genres of literature and working on different formats of writing. This will be supplement to their regular language arts curriculum. Students will be using the I Pads for their word processing. Students should be reading at grade level.

4-5 Math Enrichment

  • Making Math Fun! Using basic 4-5 math concepts in games and team efforts to review skills.

6-8 Conversational Spanish

  • 40 Yr EU Fee
    Teacher: Vicki Gronseth
  • A beginning Spanish class for students with little or no previous Spanish experience, with an emphasis on communication. Students will engage in a variety of activities such as games, puzzles, and videos in a relaxed and fun environment that will help to develop confidence in speaking. This class has new material for students who have taken the class before and want to continue building and using their Spanish-speaking skills and their knowledge of Latin American countries.

6-8 Math Intervention

  • The goal of this class is to subtract the confusion and frustration out of math and add the skills students need to be successful in their current math curriculum. Using only a fraction of the school day we will divide the important and, yes, fun concepts of math into learnable pieces so that negative feelings about math will diminish and positive feelings can multiply Students will learn test-taking strategies, math facts, and grade level content. Probability of success : very high!

6-8 Drama and More

  • This highly interactive class will cover the California visual and performing arts content standards through acting, directing, and character development. This class uses various theater games and activities. Acquired skill and knowledge will culminate with an end-of-the-semester performance.

6-8 Junior High English

  • 40 Yr EU Fee
    Teacher: Diane Ray
  • Literature based, includes response to Literature, various forms of writing and the writing process-opinion, essay, letter, short story, journal. Poetry-discussion of various types, Grammar and punctuation. Many creative items included such as illustrated journals and self-made books.

6-8 Junior High Science

  • 40 Yr EU Fee

  • General science, earth science, physical science and life science interactive lessons and experiments that make the science concepts more understandable and memorable. Interactive lab covers some of the 6-8th grade science standards. Students need to be simultaneously completing all assignments from their grade level science curriculum in order to fulfill the requirements of the grade level standards.

a-g Algebra 1 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

  • 5 Credits per Semester for High School Only

  • Order: Algebra 1, Glencoe
    This class is designed for students who are ready for a full Algebra 1 course. Students will attend class three times a week, and will complete additional 5 hours outside class in order to cover the concepts. Students will receive instruction in class and homework will be assigned from Glencoe. This will be a full year course. Students enrolling should plan to complete Algebra in 1 year.

a-g Geometry (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

  • Order: Geometry, Glencoe
    Students will be instructed three times per week, with assignments due for 5 days a week. Students will explore concepts including, but not limited to: points, lines, planes, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, congruence and similarity, proofs and logical reasoning, and basic trigonometry. This course will prepare them for further study in mathematics and applies many skills learned in Algebra 1.
  • Students will be encouraged to relate their life experiences to situations found in the novels selected.

High School Leadership (Tuesday & Thursday)

    5 Credits per Semester

    This class is designed for students interested in leadership roles within school, including elected and appointed officers. The class will include governance meetings of the Associated Student Body, snack bar organization, junior high and high school event planning, and other school activities.

a-g Spanish 1 (Tuesday and Thursday)

  • Order: Buen Viaje, Level 1, Glencoe
    Students will learn and understand basic Spanish as used in formal and informal settings; listen, pronounce, and write basic Spanish at the introductory level; formulate arguments supporting the importance of second language acquisition, and appreciate elements of Spanish culture. "Así se dice" Level 1 text, workbook and its audio program will be used as part of the learning process. Also, online resources, and related activities will be part of the Spanish 1 class.

a-g French 1 (Tuesday & Thursday)

  • Order: Bon Voyage, Level 1, Glencoe
    French 1 is an introductory course to learn the basics of this language. It is intended to develop facility in each of the major communication skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Major emphasis is on development of the ability to speak fluently with accurate pronunciation and intonation, while fostering an appreciation of the culture.

a-g English 9-12 Response to Literature (Tuesday & Thursday)

  • This class is designed for high school students to explore famous works by literary greats. Students will sample works from all over the world and in many different genres. There will be interactive group discussions and analysis of each work. Comprehensive questions and literary responses will be a part of the work assigned. Students will be encouraged to relate their life experiences to situations found in the novels selected.

a-g Agriculture Earth Science

    Explore earth sciences with an Ag twist. We will study how earthquakes, rocks, weather, soil, plants, trees, and animals all have an effect on agriculture. We will get our hands dirty in the soil, grow plants in labs, explore rocks and earth forms and attend fieldtrips. Also, become part of the Future Farmers of America team and join us for extraordinary opportunities like, conventions, conferences, travel, animals, competitions, meeting new people, winning awards, and earning money!!!

a-g Agriculture Biology

    Explore biological sciences with an Ag twist. We will study plant cells, animal systems, worms, fungi, animal reproduction, explore dissections, possible field trips and more! High School Drama Elective

    Students will be introduced to the Theater, Performing Arts Standards for grades 8-12. This class will include theater games, acting skills, character development, directing, stage management, blocking, improvisation, and the list goes on. The culmination will be a full-length production.
